@trib my changes are: 3x as much, straight passata + water, and a much longer cook (2hrs or on low) to reduce that water and develop flavours more

@trib sausage!

I shit you not, this recipe will change your ragu game https://www.gourmettraveller.com.au/recipe/mains/paccheri-with-sausage-ragu-and-mozzarella-12834/

My son is obsessed with it, chilli, fennel, and all

@johnquiggin @Taco_lad no disagreement between us, it's Keane that's the Johnny-come-lately to this. 11 years is a long time between drinks on this, and I'm guessing you, much like me, have made various comments in support of some fairly big changes to media regulation and ownership laws in Australia.

My criticism of Crikey, and Keane in particular, is the pseudo-intellectual fence-sitting they regularly do on topics

Pro tip: always cook twice as much ragu and freeze half. You'll thank yourself later.

Also, I'm having pasta bake for dinner tonight! My son is over the moon

Kids are watching Operation Ouch.

OO: And that means you're more bacteria than person!

Me: I believe that with the way you two are sometimes.

Kids: 😲😲

@johnquiggin @Taco_lad social media is more tightly regulated than traditional media. There is literally 0 regulation of the traditional media, just a facade of "self-regulation".

Maybe if there was a regulatory body that would actually punish traditional media for their deliberate failures, I'd say "yeh, let's talk about social media"

@johnquiggin @Taco_lad he's been pretty lukewarm about media regulation over the past decade, showing disinterest in it. To the point that he spent a good time mocking people on Twitter for backing Rudd's demand for media reform. Don't let a 11 year old article on News Ltd (not even called that any more, and the other article is on gambling ads, not media reform) fool you.

Keane, and Crikey in general, have pushed back fairly hard on any media reforms, despite giving Rudd the odd column

The world: My security is pretty damn tight.

@johnquiggin @Taco_lad his whole argument is bald faced whataboutism.

He can demand that all media be held to the same standard, without presenting it like a deranged libertarian afraid they're going to come for his keyboard.

And, yeh, we've all been screaming for the media to be held to account for ages while Keane took the contrarian position of "oooh, thin end of the wedge" when we've demanded it.

Keane hasn't changed much in 10 years, and still sees himself as some sort of thought leader

@chozari hehehe, yeh, she's fine doing it. I don't feel so bad, to be honest, and always leave it just messy enough for her to complain and fix it
