My Mastodon resolution is to do more shitposting.

GNOMing, especially Pika Backup, apps.gnome.org, GNOME Circle. Content might contain traces of disability and queerness.

The German government has renamed the social benefits system "citizen's income" without changing much. They claimed they would unify things.

And the "unification" implies that unemployed people can keep the first 100 EUR they earn, while disabled (unable to work) people have to give away 70% of the money, starting with the first Cent.

Disabled people also aren't allowed to own as much money as unemployed people.

And the Government even states on its homepage that this is intentional.

But as usual, no one ever talks about the benefits system for people who cannot work. Also, the existing support offers are usually specialized in unemployment status. Especially the 'leftist' ones.

I'm doing okayish financially. (Besides wanting to move out and not being able to afford many of the rooms on offer.) But it feels like we just don't exist.

Found more evidence that allistic people usually say, "I thought it would be like X" if they haven't thought about something at all.

Knowing this could be helpful for me because I might be able to default on not thinking about why they would think that and just ignore it.

The wave of Newcomers we've been receiving in GNOME is very diverse in some ways, and it's made me very happy. Yet I've noticed that few people of color stick around for more than GSoC/Outreachy, and I wonder why that is. Is there a lack of opportunity? A general lack of time for open source work among those demographics? What could we be doing better?

I'm really interested in this, because I would love to see more people like me involved.

You can't cure trauma. Healing from trauma means making sense of the world again after all the things you have experienced and haven't experienced. Or often making sense of the world and your life for the first time.

I have planned to do a review sprint for Circle apps over the next few days. Let's see how this goes.

The plan is not only to review new apps but also to start reviewing apps that have been in Circle for over two years now.
