Do you know songs with a social or political message, about marking historical events of the 2000s, 2010s, 2020s? - Lemmy.World

“Sunday Bloody Sunday” by U2 was playing on the radio. The song was released in 1983 and describes the horror felt by an observer of The Troubles in Northern Ireland [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Troubles], mainly focusing on the 1972 Bloody Sunday incident where British troops shot and killed unarmed civil rights protesters. Are there other songs with a social or political message, about more recent historical events (2000s, 2010s, 2020s)? There are many about the 9/11 attacks. Below are some examples I know about: - “Where Is the Love?” by The Black Eyed Peas - Released in 2003, this song addresses various social issues, including terrorism, war, racism, and discrimination, reflecting on the state of the world post-9/11. - “American Idiot” by Green Day - Released in 2004, this song is a commentary on American politics and society during the presidency of George W. Bush, particularly criticizing the media and consumer culture. - “B.Y.O.B.” by System of a Down - Released in 2005, this song addresses the Iraq War and critiques the hypocrisy of war and violence.

Quand, comment et pourquoi "on" a remplacé "nous" dans la langue courante?

Quand, comment et pourquoi "on" a remplacé "nous" dans la langue courante? - Lemmy.World

Follow-up question for American# : when happens of you pay for, say 50$ and end up only filling up 40$. Can you go back to the cashdesk and ask for a refund on the difference?

Thanks for the responses.

TIL: Americans pay first, then fill. Now I can understand how you could easily get distracted once it is in and locked.

To clarify : this is absolutely impossible to accidentally happen in the EU, because the payment transaction isn’t completed until the nozzle is placed back onto its support (that’s when the pump shuts off).

How can you drive off a gas station with the hose still connected? - Lemmy.World

You drove and pulled up to the gas station to fill your gas tank. You exited your vehicle, opened your gas tank cover, grabbed and put the dispenser nozzle in. You also had to pay at some point. How can you forget that the hose is still connected to your car when you drive off?
