I'd seen Pat Martino play back in 2007. My son was 10 and I wanted him to see music played live, much like how my mom took me to see theatre, ballet, and music performances as a kid. I hadn't actually heard of Pat Martino before that, but he was playing so I got my mom and my son in the car and we went. I still think about how amazing he is on guitar.
This video goes into his career, recorded a day after he passed away at 77 in 2021. I had no idea he had a cerebral brain hemorrhage in 1980 and had total amnesia. He had to relearn how to play guitar afterward, from scratch, listening to his records to figure it out. Absolutely amazing!
