I am considering activating the automatic deletion of my posts.

But even after reading https://www.bentasker.co.uk/posts/blog/opinion/arguments-for-and-against-auto-deleting-mastodon-toots.html I am still undecided.

I am quite old-school and always approved of the idea that "Cool URIs don't change" and shouldn't die either: https://www.w3.org/Provider/Style/URI

But then, a lot is to be said in favour of reducing (my) cruft without much value. I mean, how often do I peruse my archives here? Exactly...

Do you set your posts to autodelete? What where your considerations in deciding this?

Deciding Whether to Enable Automatic Post Deletion on Mastodon

A post exploring the pros and cons of enabling the automatic post deletion feature on my Mastodon account.

Bluesky has reply-gating (you can set who can reply to a post, like people you follow or a given list or no one) and is now testing out post-publication reply locking.

I just want to yell for a second about how humane and consent-forward these features are, especially after seeing some people here losing their minds when someone asked for gating recently because they felt (alas, not a paraphrase) entitled to always be able to respond.

Digital cleansing.

This time, I do not only deactivate my eX-(Twitter) account, after 17 years I delete it for good. Long overdue, I know. At least Sink-guy made my decision easy.

I also deleted almost all my posts on Instagram and will do the same on Facebook in the following days. I'll still lurk around, mainly for DMs and to follow a couple of people I care about who are still there.

I must say, it feels pretty good!

📚 Same question for Bookwyrm, mind you.

📷 Do you have (or would you recommend) a Pixelfed account? I'm looking forward to populate my feed there. I'm still setting up mine, but you'll see my follow there.

👋 Hello there.

â„šī¸ If I followed you from this account (and maybe you noticed me unfollowing you on mastodon.social or some other instance), it's because I cleaned up a bit my followed accounts on those other instances.

Here I'll mainly follow T2/Pebble castaways, so I moved things a bit around in a way that makes more sense to me. But feel free to continue following me on other instances!

đŸ‡Ŧ🇧 FYI, here I'll post mainly in English, but I can also communicate in French, Italian or German.

It seems dolphin.town is no more.
Now, only oulipo.social chugs along.
So long đŸŦ and thanks for all the fish!

I'm still missing Pebble (cited at the end)
