worldbuilding is hard. inventing interesting aliens is hard.
you can mark Steal the Snow as another "lol," tho not as hard as Swords. no setting I've made has been as bad as Swords.
so. another fresh start.
I'm no perfectionist, but I can be very particular about some things, and I think every Tabletop campaign I've run, I wouldn't want to revisit the setting.
Starsung Distance: Factions are two-dimensional, Rend Extraction incredibly poorly integrated as a core concept
Ghosts of Parliament: I started with BitD's book setting, Duskvol, and made changes as I went. Turns out I think Duskvol sucks! What a boring place
Swords Are Sorcery: lol
Mars Colony: Best contender just cuz so little is written
I was thinking about doing more Starsung Distance, but I realized I don't think my worldbuilding was good enough for me to go back to it. It supported one campaign, I should be grateful I got that much out of a setting I originally built as part of a Metroid fanfic (that no one else has ever seen) in high school.
As I grow older I grow less vulnerable to sunk cost fallacy, fortunately. Would have been easy to keep this going and been mildly dissatisfied every session- the heck with that. However, this still leaves me with two problems- wanting to run a second campaign on the Scanline Tabletop feed alongside Embers, and craving more tabletop roleplaying in my diet. I can do no roleplaying, that's fine, but if I'm doing any I want a decent clip. And Embers is a very slow campaign.
Probably this week, possibly next, gonna be posting two eps of a failed Scanline Tabletop campaign on the patreon. It's a bummer- I think we had cool ideas, and I love the people I was doing with, but it just didn't cohere. I don't wanna confuse people with a campaign that won't actually happen, so it can't go on the main feed. That leaves me with: flush it, or make it patron-only with the foreword that it didn't work out. So that's the plan.
not as in "it's better than everything," as in "Trigger makes the worst written shows in the world, even a single W is astonishing"
God, watched Edgerunners (3 eps natch) for Oops and it upstages the game it's supposed to promote so hard it's not even funny. How is a Trigger show better written than... well, anything, frankly?
em is right*, i should really play more death stranding
*em did not say this
