My latest article "Tracing Class and Capitalism in Critical AI Research," with co-authors Petter Ericson and Roel Dobbe, reveals that while race and gender are commonly discussed in Critical AI Studies, class and capitalism issues are less prevalent, confined to a niche subfield. This highlights the need for integrating political economy critiques into AI research to fully address its socio-economic, ecological, and political implications.

This came in the mail today! Mine and @moaerikssonkrut’s new book on researching digital media and society. Developing and adapting these methods has been a collaborative journey, both with us at @digsum, and in the much wider community of like-minded scholars, nationally and internationally. We are crazy excited to now have been able to package it all in a fun book for undergrads and upward! 🐶📊🔍
"Critical Theory of AI" now exists in the world.
Looking forward to participating in this stellar panel on criticality in AI studies at the WASP-HS conference next month.
