https://activitypub.rocks/news/handing-off-activitypubrocks-to-the-activitypub-community.html

It's official now: activitypub.rocks is transferred to ActivityPub community.

You might think that the recipient is #SocialHub, which is located on the socialhub.activitypub.rocks subdomain, but for some reason it's a different entity, the W3C Social Web Community Group. It's hard to find any information about the people who control resources related to this group, but it seems that the site is controlled by the organizer of FediForum (https://fediforum.org/).

Update 2025-08-31: I was informed that the transfer only involved admin access to the site; domain owner didn't change

Mitra 3.2.0 finally adds UI elements for emoji reactions. This is a significant change and if you don't like it, let me know. I can add a setting that hides reactions.

>Given the dangers of password theft, Google, Microsoft and Apple announced in May this year their plans to support a common passwordless sign-in standard created by the Fast IDentity Online (FIDO) Alliance and the World Wide Web Consortium.

At first glance this looks like a great initiative. Key based identity etc etc. But the actual software being developed requires either spying device (aka smart phone) or worse, biometrics.

Meanwhile, development of browser wallets continues to stagnate.

How Tech Giants Are Preparing For A Password-free Future. - Jumpstart Magazine

In recent years, it’s become abundantly clear that passwords are no longer the most secure form of authentication. According to Verizon’s Data Breach Investigations Report (DBIR) 2022, password security issues are responsible for 80% of data breaches worldwide. Despite their flaws, passwords are still the most commonly used form of authentication.

Just migrated a test account from one instance to another. This migration was initiated from the new instance, and the corresponding Move() activity was signed with MetaMask wallet. No permission from the old server required.

Although this migration only moves the identity (during the migration followers should un-follow the old actor and follow the new one), data migrations can be implemented in a similar way.

Testing Monero subscriptions on stagenet.
So far, so good, and the memory footprint remains small (Mitra + local Monero Wallet RPC + remote public Monero node)
