yes, the same emergency services who used to tell you, “oh your house is on fire and you can't do phonecalls? please fill out this form and fax it”
it's been available for almost nine months, in fact
and they never told anyone. except deaf associations, apparently
why they still won't just use SMS is beyond me but, it's something i guess. at least there now is a somewhat decent way to call an ambulance when you're deaf. or nonspeaking. or unable to speak on the phone. or unable to speak to strangers. or unable to speak right now for whatever reason. or in a situation where calling anyone would be dangerous. etc
as long as you have a decent mobile data connection anyway. and this is germany after all…
