The gnome developers refuse to implement desktop icon functionality, because they say that leaving files on the desktop is bad practice, meanwhile they keep all of their files in the downloads directory.
I’m not even sure if up and downvotes are good for conversations, because people use the voting system as an agree/disagree button, users think that the downvoted person is wrong. Awards would fuel the astroturfing problem imo.

The system is immutable, so you can roll back to the previous version if an update fails. All GUI applications are flatpaks and you install developer tools via toolboxes or distroboxes.
Ublue images are not one-man distros, they are silverblue images with pre-layered stuff for convenience rpm-ostree.readthedocs.io/en/stable/. You can also build your own silverblue image.
