Wizard wannabe. Climate communist.

I have one partner, five lizards, thirty-three years, and zero tolerance for fash.

Boosts are for visibility. Favs are awarded according to a lottery system. Opinions are mine, but you could probably steal them (if you're fast).

Avatar: Photo of a guy (white with brown hair) holding up a lizard (green with no hair). Both are looking at the camera.

Here's a very soothing picture of Polly sneakin a little peek from around the door of her tank to say "Hey dude, heard you were freakin out. Go eat a snack, maybe."

A new paper in Cell argues that snake genomes point to a burrowing ancestor and re-adaptation to life above ground. Deep stuff.

Snake genome reveals burrowing past and re-adaptation to surface life

Chromosome-level assembly of 14 snakes in a study led by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, has created a high-resolution genomic reference for the study of snake evolution. In a paper, "Large-scale snake genome analyses provide insights into vertebrate development," published in Cell, the research team details a wide array of discoveries already made by their sequencing data.

Taking a break from lizardposting to introduce everyone to my parents' absolutely gorgeous border collie, Zoey.

a relationship's strongest foundation

This is Boomy, the baby of our 5 #anoles.

Something that always charms me about our anoles is when they show off this striking eyeshadow.

If you didn't know, green anoles have the ability to change color! They're sometimes called American Chameleons (though they're not Chameleons, but true #lizards).

They have a range of greens, yellows, blues, and browns that you might find them wearing, so I always feel lucky to catch them when they're rocking this look!

Alright, we're #lizardposting

This is Jojo. Our neighbor (age 10ish) found her without a tail, and brought her to us for rehab. (He literally had her in his pocket 🤦 but his heart was in the right place.)

We nursed Jojo back to whole-tail-ness over the winter, then released her back into our local wild population.

We were worried she'd get got by a bird, but she's surviving! She still visits us every few weeks for some water and a snack.
