kindly don't.
I think it would have been enough to simply say "we're getting a lot of fairy tale submissions this round and only have a few slots." Or to just tweet, "here's what we look for in fairy tales."
Maybe I'm over-sensitive. But smashing them together like that felt weirdly demeaning.
Thinking about what makes feedback helpful vs. out of place.
A spec fic mag I follow on the birdsite just tweeted that they're inundated with fairy tales, and how to evaluate if yours is worth sending.
On one hand, it's good advice for interrogating your writing.
On the other, something about the context (commenting vaguely about work they've received but haven't yet responded to) gives me like. A crazy amount of anxiety. And I didn't even submit!!
With the WGA strike, everyone is (rightfully) concerned about profit-obsessed industry leaders replacing writers with AI.
To be honest, that conversation has been ongoing for a while in the marketing industry, too.
I get it. I don't want to lose my job, either.
But here's an angle that nobody seems to be talking about:
AI GENERATED CONTENT SUCKS.
It's so bad, you guys. Not only is the writing low quality, but it invents facts and quotes wholesale.
Say no to AI content. Pay a writer.
