PipeWire Under The Hood

The PipeWire project is slowly getting popular as it matures. Its documentation is still relatively sparse but is gradually growing. However, it's always a good idea to have people from outside the project try to grasp and explain it to others in their own words, reiterating ideas, seeing them from their own perspective.

i eternally thank diphenhydramine on soulseek for sharing out what i believe to be at most 150 dollars worth of Sadness music
fun fact: this palette image was generated with a ~7k character long ImageMagick montage command
trying to work on a colorscheme generated from HSV values with templating because i got a little tired of gruvbox. you'd be surprised how close this is to gruvbox, and how deceiving the black/white colors are related
why does the wayland wl_keyboard not handle the keymap or key events fully for clients? why does every client have to link to xkbcommon and do the keymap handling itself rather than wayland just giving a key? and what the hell is + 8 ??? the protocol already defines `xkb_v1` and its literally the only option so why not just stick with it full time??
when this first came out, i was very mean to the creator, but when i use it now, it shocks me just how many features is inside this thing
looking for a new compositor and coming from niri, I think i'm gonna settle on mango.. it has features i miss like dynamic workspaces but features i didn't even know I needed. it's smaller (64k v. 20k LOC) and comes packed with more features!
