Researchers in digital technologies, law, policy and society in the Fediverse/Mastodon, fill in the form to add your handle to the spreadsheet, and consult the results to see if there are people you'd like to follow! (Inspired by @konrad's effort to gather historians)

@susser @jbigham @cfiesler @Riedl @geomblog @mikarv @andresmh yeah that’s what I’m thinking—it could help w both community and serendipitous discovery. Also an opportunity for collective deliberation and decision-making.
@lyel I just finished The Telling, by Le Guin, which was my first time reading, and was characteristically elegiac and thought-provoking. Planning on reading Infomocracy next. Any other recos?
@Riedl @geomblog @susser @sethlazar @mikarv I've been thinking about academic communities becoming somewhat splintered - e.g. there's both hci.social (where I am) and vis.social which I imagine have some overlap. In the end I don't think it matters much (because of who you can follow), but fwiw I think facct people would be very welcome on hci!
@BenPatrickWill @inquiline I LOVE this book and yes have been thinking about it on here lots. One thing I like is ‘the algorithm’ isn’t the enemy, is designed in a way that supports collective deliberation.
My Houston—Sydney flight is going to be 17h45!! It’s the third longest flight in the world I think. Bloody hell.
@mikarv @geomblog @Riedl @susser Come to think of it, why not have a hands-on session at FAccT23 (maybe in the CRAFT stream) where people discuss all these things and make/adapt something that reflects their needs/interests?
@mikarv @geomblog @mdekstrand @Riedl @susser it’s hard to keep track of replies on here! But yes what Michael said.
@susser @geomblog @mikarv @Riedl yep the FAccT Slack is much more for organising the conf, and making announcements to people who don’t like twitter.
@mikarv @susser @bkeegan What’s the principle again about how hashtags work on here? I’ve definitely seen stuff come up from outside the instance I’m on, eg on the twittermigration one. That seems the simplest solution for having a common space with multiple homes if it would work…
