@georgetakei I doubt if she pumps her own groceries.

I just uploaded a new episode of #SeldonCrisis featuring an interview with the voice actor behind the character Bayta Darell and several others on the podcast. Amanda provides a lot of great insight into voice acting and some of the challenges it presents.

It's also a nice retrospective on a particularly exciting section of the #Foundation story by Isaac #Asimov, wherein Bayta bravely faces off with the Mule, bent on conquering the entire galaxy.

@Sentientism It was wonderful getting to talk to Jamie Woodhouse about this critically needed shift in worldview. Rather that just being empathetic to our fellow humans, we should extend our compassion to all the sentient beings we share the world with.
Sci-fi and Sentientism. I had the pleasure of talking to Joel McKinnon on his @seldoncrisis podcast. I hope you enjoy! https://www.seldoncrisis.net/beyond-asimovs-humanism-with-jamie-woodhouse/

Beyond Asimov's Humanism with Jamie Woodhouse | Seldon Crisis

Ethicist Jamie Woodhouse has some challenging questions for humanity: should we care about the suffering of all sentient beings, or just the ones who run the show at the moment? What about when we're no longer running the show? Why should a superintelligent and possibly sentient machine intelligence care about us? Might there be other practical reasons to widen our circle of compassion beyond humans?

New episode on Seldon Crisis podcast - first in well over a year. My guest is Jamie Woodhouse, exploring the ethical worldview of Sentientism, characterized by concern for evidence, reason, and compassion for all sentient beings.
