I just donated US$150 to the Python Software Foundation. If 9999 other people do that, then there's their grant money. https://fosstodon.org/@ThePSF/115446659188615376

TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. https://pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-funding-statement.html ๐Ÿงต https://www.python.org/sponsors/application/

Danish Intelligence: Russia forged letter to spark Trump's Greenland purchase bid - Euromaidan Press

A Russian disinformation operation involving a forged diplomatic letter may have triggered Donald Trump's ongoing interest in purchasing Greenland, revealing Moscow's strategy to create divisions within NATO's Arctic presence.

How do you spot an idiot? Look for the person who is cruel. The kindest person in the room is often the smartest...

The next gotcha involves short-circuiting.

>>> a = [2, 1, 3, 4, 7, 11]

This pops one value because x() or y() won't run y() if x() evaluates to something truthy:
>>> a.pop() or a.pop()
11
>>> a
[2, 1, 3, 4, 7]

This pops twice though:
>>> a.pop() and a.pop()
4
>>> a
[2, 1, 3]

And note that "a or b" and "a and b" will return the actual *value* (which may be the booleans True or False or might be some other value!)

Completed my first run after spending a week in the hospital with a septic hip, having surgery to clean it out, and enduring 6 weeks giving myself intravenous antibiotics through a picc line. Grateful there was absolutely no pain, other than the pain of burning in my lungs from my diminished fitness.
I used to think Musk had great business acumen, given the success of Tesla and SpaceX, but watching Twitter implode has left me with the impression he's just been pulling a Homer for the last 25 years.
