I made this tasty bowl of ramen earlier. The noodles themselves are just the normal maruchan instant ones, and they weren’t the best ever, but I made the rest from scratch!
The Silicon Valley Bank implosion has impacted me, albeit in a minor way. I deposited a reimbursement check from my FSA provider using the Bank of America app, in the same way as I have deposited hundreds of checks over the years. The check prominently says ā€œSilicon Valley Bankā€ across the top. I got a message, which I’ve never received before, about how BofA needs to verify the money is there - in other words, they need to take extra ā€œmake sure the check doesn’t bounceā€ precautions.
I went to the midtown west Ichiran, which I understand is one of the most beloved ramen chains in Japan. I’ve wanted to try it ever since moving within easy reach of NYC, but i only started indoor dining in the last six months and this was my first trip into the city since. The food way exceeded my expectations, it was so good and I’m looking forward to going back.
Clearing out one of my spam-trap email folders, turns out I missed on what would have turned out to be a biiggggggg payday (see the sending email address). Oh well!
I published a YouTube video comparing guitar pedals a few months ago, and to my delight, the analytics say its main audience has been middle-aged Japanese men.
I was momentarily thrilled that today’s NYT crossword author was the Tumblr guy, but it’s actually a different David Karp. Anyway, happy weekend to you.
I’m being menaced by the ā€œCalmā€ meditation app’s email unsubscribe page.

Hell yeah. Time to kick my career into overdrive
Here's something I've been enjoying this past week: my local public library provides online access to several Japanese magazines, including one aimed at kids (so, easy for bad-at-JP me to read) about trains.
