Friend of sounds. Committed list maker. Wrote a book about Slint.

So I shared the playlist with him in the drive to school today—stuff like Fall Out Boy, Paramore, Jimmy Eat World. As we settled into the car I said “everything I picked for you is kinda punk, kinda #emo”.

As the word “emo” escaped my lips, I saw his face drop. I lost him before the first chord even hit.

My 13yo has hit an emo/alt punk phase but he doesn’t really realize it - the Algorithm is feeding him weird shit. Trying to make him a playlist of “better” stuff although admittedly I don’t think I was super into this when it was at its peak in the 00s

very sorry to hear that steve roden has passed away after battling alzheimer’s for the last six years. I met him 20+ years ago and he really opened my eyes and ears to a whole world of art and sound.
My favorite moment in a #jimmybuffett song is during “Volcano” when Jimmy shouts “Mr. Utley!” as if someone in the band is about to launch into a solo, but instead they just keep playing the song as they have been. https://open.spotify.com/track/0s4jINkD2RoxH96zpy2i0D?si=rJBje2ofRfeC2RcX4cl56Q

I tried to make one of those “20 tracks” playlists but first attempt I came up with 60. By the time I narrow it down to 20 the meme will have passed.
RIP Brian McBride of #StarsoftheLid, gone far too soon. SotL made some of the best ambient music of all time and Brian’s solo albums are right up there too.
The news of #BrianMcBride's passing has really taken the wind out of my sails this morning. #StarsOfTheLid were just that remarkable and moving. I had to get some thoughts out of my head -- up on the Patreon, free for all to read. #music https://www.patreon.com/posts/in-honor-of-88329908

Started watching #PokerFace this weekend. It’s enjoyable but I think I should slow down. “Murder of the Week” shows do require that week in between eps so you don’t tire of the formula.
