Cultural oppression depends partly on unchallenged narratives. They want us to feel ensnared by stories that have never been our own.
Part of being free of their stories is choosing to live in the world instead of vicariously. To do what we dream of doing instead of watching others do it. Not for approval, not for fame or respect, but for love.
If “chaos is a ladder,” then how do we pull it away before the instigating ascendant reaches a new level? Merely reacting to the ladder seems to reinforce it.

Western classical music is different from other kinds, which often precede notation and can predate Gregorian chant.
Since Western classical music continues to be written in the twenty-first century, it needs another name. We’ve been using “new” and “avant garde” for at least 75 years, so timeliness alone doesn’t cover modern through-composed music.
Lots of people noticed Pope Francis passed two days after talking to J. D. Vance. But I remembered John Lewis and Elijah Cummings dying during the first Trump admin and saw a wider connection. I can’t be alone in that.
Dealing with hatred on the scale we’re experiencing can hasten the death of reps who value us. That’s why it is important we recognize, honour and support them while they are still with us.
