Looking for thoughts on what new Mac to buy. I currently am still using my 2017 27i iMac, 3.8 GHz i5, 24 GB ram, 2 TB Fusion Drive. I’ll buy the latest Studio Display because I want a 5k display and can’t deal with the non-Apple alternatives with lousy/no speakers and no built in camera. I’ve always had desktops (original iMac, G5 tower, Mac Minis, now this 2017 iMac) so do I get the M4 Mac Mini or hold out for the M5? Do I get an M5 Air and gain portability?
@siracusa I’ve searched the ATP archives but can’t locate the most recent mesh network discussion where you noted which brands are more trustworthy to not so bad things with your data. Help?

Episode 10: Your Dollars, New Renewable Energy Projects, Everybody Swims — Everybody in the Pool

This week on Everybody in the Pool, we’ve got a double whammy of solutions. We know that to transition our economy away from fossil fuels as quickly as possible, we need to deploy as much renewable energy as fast as we can (and yes, interconnect it, I know). Also, renewable energy deployment is a huge investment opportunity that’s mostly unavailable to you and me, even though these are projects that can throw off reliable cash for 20 or 30 years. So, startups are coming in to try to connect regular old people with renewable energy projects—like crowdfunding, but with a return. This week, Molly interviews Will Wiseman, co-founder and CEO of Climatize, an app that does all of the above. Win-win!This week’s episode is sponsored by Fennel Markets.
