EGG/CHAIN AND BAT/BOOT RESPECTIVELY MAKE UP THE TWO PERPENDICULAR AXES TO CONSTRUCT THE COMPASS ONTO WHICH ANY 'PUNK' BAND CAN BE PLOTTED.
@scenereport WILD SIDE got a great reaction with pile-ons and dives. The songs are legitimately awesome, and I feel like their LP is quite underrated. They should definitely play around here more. I like that the singer was clowning on the bouncers who looked panicked the whole time.
Had more fun that I thought watching MAGNITUDE who I’d seen a bunch of times. Any band doing the New Age Records sound in 2025 has my attention. Also the only band of the night who had something vaguely political to say on stage about the state of their country.
MISSING LINK was some heavy moshing Hardcore stuff, people were excited to see them.
By the time KILLING TIME went on you could tell people were tired, but excited to see them. They’re definitely the better of the reunion bands going right now, the musicianship is insane and the banter was next level. They don’t need to play anything off The Method though.
The drive back was hellish. Despite having a 4x4, the snowstorm hit us hard and there were a couple close-calls. It took us 9 hours to come back to Montreal. Lesson learned.
@scenereport : Drove to Toronto this past weekend to see the big Triple B show.
We made a pit stop at a guitar store outside Toronto where I finally tracked down a 1979 Gibson The Paul but it was in too bad of a shape unfortunately. We walked in during BEST WISHES and they rocked, great Cro-Mags/Icemen vibe. Sometimes I love a singer that rocks a mic stand, something different y’know
BAD BEAT was next and asked for the lights on. Very fun band and they got the crowd moving; good banter too. At one point Jimmy Edgemen committed Edge on Edge crime by throwing the mic across the room directly at my Swatch X-Rated. It made a hole in the sleeve of my hoodie lol.
Stoked to finally have gotten to see BURNING LORD who put out my favourite LP of 2024. Hands down the band I was most excited to see. "SELL ME YOUR NEOS-END ALL DISCRIMINATION 7INCH!" is probably the best mosh call I’ve heard in a long time.
C4 was stupid good as always, songs about shitting yourself and whatnot. The last time I saw them the guitar player had an AK-47-shaped guitar with red LEDs on the neck, it was awesome. [cont]
