Advertising spend has dried up and the shareholders are looking for growth. I don’t mind paying for YouTube Premium but I get it much cheaper than that because I connect via VPN when I pay for it. I use Romania but other people recommend Turkey or Argentina or any of the other countries that are having issues with their currencies.

Premium is a great service for $4 a month and it’s just handy to be able to use the real YouTube app when you need to. I personally use SmartTube on my Android TV and I absolutely love it.

I also use NewPipe x SponsorBlock on my phone if I want to listen to podcasts without any ad reads and it’s occasionally handy if I want to listen to music on YouTube and not on my screen on although I use Spotify for music most of the time, or PlexAmp from my MP3 collection which is all on a Plex server in the cloud along with all my movies and TV shows
