fun fact!! in the ui framework for the nintendo switch, there are seventeen raw text files with blacklisted strings.

"badword" and multiple variations of it following random latin characters are banned system-wide, along with roughly 33 eating disorder-related strings.

most of the ed-specific strings have been removed in future firmware updates, meaning you can now name yourself "probulimia" if you really wanted to.
(the note about these strings being removed could possibly be wrong. i am not reviewing iris code, just blacklists. there are state machines in a separate folder which could potentially be an updated blacklist, but i'm too lazy to dig through this. this list could also be unrelated from the username blacklist. this is from a commit to the horizon source dated roughly around 2018 if i were to guess based on file metadata)

"badword" is still entirely blocked by iris...
