Having to build an entire social circle from scratch seems quite intimidating. I haven’t had to do it in years. If I build it off my presence on the bird site, am I dooming myself to repeat that experience?

I think I’m just going to hide under here for a while. Happy #Caturday

@shield_asset @stux it looks like they’ve already caved and filed a WARN notice making the layoffs effective Jan 3rd, so at least they get what they are owed (but will of course be keeping an ear to the ground in case he reneges on it).

I don't think Mastodon or the fediverse has ever received this much attention before. It's a great opportunity for people to finally see that social media can be done differently, that it can be a protocol not under control of any single company.
