Early in May, a court ordered OpenAI to retain all its chat logs — even the ones that it promised users wouldn't be kept.

This is one of the risks of using something with a perfect memory designed to answer to your every whim but that doesn't belong to you

My 13 yo discovered the phone book that was delivered to our house and searched through it to see whether any of her friends’ families were in it. When she found one she exclaimed, “Oh no! They’ve been doxxed!”
@mattblaze I was about to look this stuff up, but fortunately Jeffrey Goldberg has already done the heavy lifting for me. https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/archive/2020/09/trump-americans-who-died-at-war-are-losers-and-suckers/615997/
Trump: Americans Who Died in War Are ‘Losers’ and ‘Suckers’

The Atlantic
@twitnews This assumes that the current oligarchs care about things that hurt other oligarchs.
@IndyRichard @mtconleyuk @nixfreak @angusm @pluralistic not that I disagree with what you were saying, but 25 years ago I flew across the Atlantic a few times on Delta/Air France. The seats were definitely roomier and the entire experience felt closer to a cheap domestic airline’s first class. Each passenger also got a baguette and a small bottle of wine, but I think that was more due to Air France than being transatlantic.
@twitnews I played Pokémon Go continuously for about a year when it first launched. Now I generally play it for a week or two in the spring when the weather turns nice. I guess I need to do that again ASAP before the monetization kicks in.

I Went to 50 Different Dentists and Almost All of Them Gave Me a Different Diagnosis | Reader's Digest

https://www.rd.com/article/how-honest-are-dentists/

This article originally ran in the February 1997 issue of Reader’s Digest, but I suspect it’s just as true today. Last year, one of my kids “graduated“ from their pediatric dentist, and the new dentist declared that we needed thousands of dollars of work done.

I Went to 50 Different Dentists and Almost All of Them Gave Me a Different Diagnosis

From one dentist I got a quote of $460 for all of the work I needed to be done. From another, $29,850.
