Left: Actual "brand purpose."

Right: Temporarily saying that you care about climate change because it is trendy.

1. Fact-checking is never political. Facts are facts.

2. They will stop paying workers to do it and instead hope users do it for free.

I will repeat my law: EVERYTHING a company does is to increase revenue and/or cut costs in some way, no matter how altruistic they spin it.

Hello, 2025! Now that events are back in force, I'm booking marketing speeches, workshops, and corporate trainings for this year on sustainability, ad performance, B2B strategy, and other topics.

Interesting use of category entry points.

Every airline is doing the same thing.

My hunch is that they are realizing that loyalty programs do not create incremental (additional) revenue because members would have still flown with them if the programs did not exist.

So they're getting rid of them -- slowly, over time.

Remember when a certain company told everyone that advertising was dead?

In October, a pan-European company hired me to give a talk at a gathering of marketing heads for each country in Slovenia.

The focus? The difference between marketing strategy and marketing tactics -- and on how they could potentially use that process to target millennials with communications related to brand purpose.

Of course, I have a few thoughts on all those topics. Below is a 30-minute excerpt from my talk.

Technology Speaker Samuel Scott: What is Marketing?

After my first post-pandemic marketing talk last week in Slovenia, I'm now discussing potential bookings for 2024 in the US, UK, Ireland, Switzerland, Sweden, Portugal, Latvia, and Serbia so far.

Interested in an appearance? See the link in my bio to learn more.

I think YouTube is trolling me.

Personal update: After a pandemic absence of almost three years, I will return to speaking on marketing with a private company event in Bled, Slovenia, on October 16-18.

If you're in Europe and would like an appearance around then as well, see my speaking page with my schedule, an example topic list, footage, and more: https://www.samueljscott.com/marketing-speaker/

Note: I speak less than I did in the past because I also work as head of marketing at Faddom in addition to writing my column for The Drum.
