I build a rather elegant scripts to rule them all approach to ruby / elixir / node development (with an escape hatch to use homebrew / asdf) for work . it's worked very well, even with moving to podman.
Had anyone here tried out an open source equivalent to datadog or coralogix for local development? Like openobserve or signoz?
So there’s all this drama between ruby central, ruby gems, rv, ruby coop, and people who made all this work. I just remembered there was ruby forge back in the day. Craziness.

I've been doing some distro and DE hopping lately. I've tried omarchy, but tiling window managers might not be for me. I'm going to give Kubuntu a try this week. (FWIW, I've had fun with arch, but that's not on the agenda this week)

I've got KDE looking a little like windows, and a little like macOS. Let's see where this goes

@joeldrapper what a mess.
Omarchy is pretty slick, and so is omakub, but right now just using plain old gnome works for me.
I'm actually enjoying so far doing my day to day work in Linux, specifically ubuntu25. I'm able to install everything I need and it's just nicer and more resource efficient
@jsm @getajobmike omarchy isn’t a Linux distro, it’s just a configuration for Arch Linux. I’ve used it and it’s pretty nice if you like tiling window managers.
@getajobmike @rubycentral what specifically is it about DHH’s relationship with Ruby Central that was so objectionable to our fellow rubyists that was maintaining our community packaging and infrastructure? I’ve been using ruby for almost two decades and have sometimes tuned out DHH’s meanderings. I’m going to attend that zoom meeting and all of this needs to be cleared up in simple unambiguous terms.
@davetron5000 I’m able to use 1Password for just about all MFA with TOTP (or yubikeys) save Microsoft Authenticator or Authy clicking.
