We are shocked by the fact that results of studies with potential large impact on women, are put out on Twitter like slogans or sensational headlines. Sharing teasers on social media wouldn’t fall into the category of serious or ethical research.

A compelling argument for eggs in mid day meals.

But we knew ALL of this already.

Why is caste so virulent that it denies basic nutrition to children?

Why is the Madhya Pradesh government replacing eggs with milk in midday meals?

As the debate continues, it is important to understand why activists are making a case for eggs in mid-day meals. Farzana Afridi, an associate professor with the Indian Statistical Institute, tells Lounge about the role school meals can play in enhancing children’s cognitive abilities

Caste, food and ideological imposition · Dalit Camera

In India, distancing oneself from the ‘polluting, inferior’ meat and meat eaters is a deliberately exaggerated casteist behaviour marker. Although only about 30% of Indians self identify as vegetarian, this too could be an inflated number because of the stigma surrounding meat eating. Ironically, milk and milk products are conveniently labelled as ‘vegetarian’ ignoring their animal based composition.

Exempt us from faculty quotas, IIMs tell govt

Last week, the 20 IIMs requested the HRD Ministry to add them to the list of “Institutions of Excellence” mentioned in the Schedule to the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Teachers’ Cadre) Act 2019.

Report release in Bangalore, Karnataka on Kashmir: Imprisoned resistance. Many dalit groups came forward to support the resistance
https://twitter.com/i/timeline
The worst affected groups are the rural economically underprivileged, dalits and tribals, with children below 5 years, and pregnant and nursing mothers. Over the years, there is widespread stunting in India. Children are failing to gain height and weight and as adults are becoming more prone to diabetes and high blood pressure...Hence the lack of proper diet especially good quality proteins from milk, eggs and meat can prove detrimental. https://www.telegraphindia.com/health/right-to-food-the-politics-of-vegetarianism-in-india/cid/1721235
Right to food: The politics of vegetarianism in India

With malnutrition levels as bad as sub-Saharan African countries, a vegetarian diet is just an imposition for Indians

India is Not a 'Vegetarian Country' Like the EAT-Lancet Report Would Have Us Believe

Currently, food politics in India spearheads an aggressive new Hindu nationalism that has led to many of India's meat eating minority communities being treated as inferior.
