Fortunately you (unless you are Austrian) have no voice in the matter.
Back in the day when I still used windows, I did not even use IE to download Firefox. I used the FTP functionality inside the explorer to download Firefox from the Mozilla FTP.

Hm weird. Running 6000 series igpu with hw decoding on, no issues.

On desktop 7000 series dGpu, also no issues.

There were some Frame drops in the past, but current kernel + Mesa has no issues for me.

So this is not some corner case problem for me… I honestly do not care, rarely watch on the phone. Maybe because it depresses me that technology is moving backwards in some sense 😐
Not to forget: the adds are high definition anyway…

youtube on modern phones sucks - Lemmy.world

Not even speaking about all the ads in the default YouTube app without a subscription. The app is basically useless in my opinion. It defaults to freaking 240p for every video. My phone is definitively not the problem, also not the Internet connection. Watching in Firefox on the same connection gives me normal expected quality. This was better on some “feature phones” without touchscreen!!! YouTube app works and playback is in 720p / 1080p

I am still upset that this code exists. Talked with friends that I probably have one of the largest Linux Iso collections, because I never deleted them and had mirrors for a couple of distros. Almost a full terabyte!

However I phrased it, I could not convince them, that I was not talking about piracy.

About 50% people do not get any reaction from their saliva at all.
