Object-oriented software is a curse

Good morning.
The only mitigating factor is that most things developers work on are pointless wastes of time and money that should not exist anyway, so I guess who cares if they do them badly.
The fact that this is so often coupled with an arrogant insistence on “purity” of code over and above its actual practical usefulness just makes it even more maddening.
I really 🤬 hate this attitude from software developers and it is so so common. I’m so tired of it. Their entertainment is more important than the stability of the product they’re building, its users, etc etc. Spoiled brats.
Also (and I'm sure there's lots of places where this isn't true) every part of the fighting game community I've encountered has been so wholesome and friendly and lovely. They love fighting games, and they want you to be as excited about them as they are! (I guess that's me now, too 😅).

It's so absurdly deep: I've just found an 87 page google doc of advice for playing the character I main.

It has its own notation. I now understand what c.S > dl. f.S//2S > 5H > 236K~K means 🤯. I can't actually _do_ it yet, though 😅.

There is an endless amount to learn, and the combination of this knowledge and the physical skill of actually inputting the moves is incredibly satisfying thing to feel yourself getting better at.

Can't overstate how rewarding getting into fighting games has been already, and I've barely scratched the surface. If you even vaguely think you _might_ be interested, I'd 1000% recommend giving it a go. I can teach you what little I know and then we can learn together!
Happy Christmas
