The next Permacomputing NYC meetup is Tuesday March 10 at 6pm at @ridgewoodcommons.bsky.social We will hold monthly meetings there on the second Tuesday each month at least through May.
At our March 10 meeting we'll have guest Theo Ellin Ballew of NYC's own Red Calendar ( https://cal.red ). Launched in April 2025 "Red Calendar is an arts and action calendar that helps NYC gather without big tech middlemen." It is managed by a team of community editors, does not cost money and....is Big-Tech-free. No Meta/Facebook events, No Amazon Web Services, No Google Calendar, etc. Almost a year into its launch is the perfect time to learn more about why and how they did it, what they've learned, and what other initiatives can learn from them.
We'll also discuss the topic of Degrowth, including What might degrowth computing look like?

Did the first livestream with spectra.video‼️ not got audio levels correct... I needed to edit an xml for my hardware video mixer ✅ ... hope I set it up correctly with the spectra streamkey ✅... so happy to have moved off YouTube 🎉. Though still have the google account - it is just making the time to deal with gmail as my login for so many accounts 😕 yikes. & a step forward is moving forward♥️
Friday in Rochester NY, I'll have a video-install up as part of the show's "Immersive collective video installation" ~6min loop.

Now how should i get and post info on performances/shows? I have a small mailing list and post here.
I'm also thinking #RSS -- no algo, no platform or expectation of social-media-esque 'finding people' ....and could be nice to introduce folks to RSS aggregators / readers...❓
