There's an episode where the X-Men have two options: allow Rogue to absorb an out-of-control Storm's powers or allow the villain Sauron to be reborn by absorbing said power. And for no comprehensible reason, they opt for the latter! The objection to Rogue is that she also might go out of control, although no explanation is given, and Sauron is, by definition, somewhat sans control.
