I was just doing my first React/web app with FastAPI backend using AI (I have no idea how to code that), and it put a “next / OK” button on the left which is even crazier when the back and forward buttons on a browser point left and right. That’s clearly because our written language is left-to-right and I suspect Apple is mimicking that.

@saket Billions? of people are about to have this feature in iOS 26. We’ll be able to leave AI to itself while we get on with humanity.

@daringfireball $1.5 billion seems like a piddling amount of money to pay to the world’s last 100 years of content creators Plus most I imagine is going to the copyright owners, Facebook, YouTube, X, etc.

@viticci the “content” of a music app is sound, everything else is UI to play the sound you want. Album art is not content, there’s no need to hide UI.

@viticci I’m finding it difficult to comprehend that Apple finally realised that the macOS UI has been so refined over decades that it might be worth trying on a touch-first device.

@quietmarc @mrbadger42 Oh I could not agree with that at all. The situation is far more complex than “Western nations caused it all”. I’d say religion has a hell of a lot to answer for here as well. How much you tie that down to individual people is debatable. Simply blaming the US and other Western countries is a cop out. There are NO good guys.

@quietmarc @mrbadger42 Oh there are so many skeletons in our closet! Including ethnic cleansing in Tasmania, mass genocide and even mass forced adoption. Conveniently we now pretend it was the British that did that, but we STILL can’t vote to set up a Voice to Parliament for Aboriginal people.
