I am a composer/musician and write various kinds of music.

I am a skeptic, humanist, free thinker, critical thinker, and believe that informed people make the best decisions based on the information available. And . . . the better person can change their mind when presented with compelling contradictory information.

Just Like January 6, One of the Most Disturbing Aspects of the Right-Wing Coup Attempt in Germany is Who Was Behind It

The US has had to deal with a home-grown attempted coup for the past two years. This week, Germans awoke to headlines that gave them a taste of what their American friends felt on January 6, 2021 as Germany saw its largest anti-terrorism operation carried out by police in recent history. @riveted Not a psychology study, but an extremely insightful look into tribalism and how it impacts the way we vote.

For those of you lovelies who are interested in #psychology , #sociology , #science , and #culture - can I recommend a series of compelling and thought-provoking essays from the excellent Tim Urban (Wait But Why)? It's called "The Story of Us" and it very effectively breaks down the various evolutionary and cognitive biases that we have and how that influences our group thinking and tribalism. It's a very in-depth look, but very much worth your time. Also: Stick figures! https://waitbutwhy.com/2019/08/story-of-us.html

Is there anyone out there that would know of ANY #psychology studies that dive into why certain pollical groups/tribes abandon traits like #empathy, #compassion, #kindness, #generosity, #altruism, and #humanity? I primarily see this in #politicians but could apply it to people in power roles or religious groups as well. I would be curious to see what triggers this type of abandonment.

This is what was said to me when asked about our current political climate:

“I only listen to/follow limited sources for news and side conservatively because it is too difficult to get all the facts. I would rather just have someone make the decisions for me. That way I don’t have to spend any energy on having to work it out.”

I should not be surprised by this but why am I? Why would someone just hand that over because it may take some effort to understand and resolve an issue or problem?

Here's a recent shot of the Snettisham arm ring & it has a patch! We're not sure why it has a patch, or how old the patch is - possible ideas are ancient & a repair or for removing pitch after making (unlikely as it's an eyesore on the outer decorated surface), or modern & a repair or perhaps some kind of modern investigation??

Not sure, but I like to think of it as a trapdoor for fairies...

(Can you tell I'm torcrastinating and not writing when I should be??? 🤣)
