Twitter is messed up good tonight: timelines not loading, searches limited. Does EM think he can run the place by himself? Just waiting for the hostile takeover from his creditors.
You're not imagining it: many of the most powerful and visible people in tech have been radicalized into an extremist world view that is unfathomable even in other major industries. The impacts have already been awful, and promise to get worse. https://anildash.com/2023/02/27/tycoon-martyrdom-charade/
The tech tycoon martyrdom charade - Anil Dash

A blog about making culture. Since 1999.

It is still wild that millions of Americans routinely fly alternate defaced flags signaling their support for the extrajudicial execution of their neighbors and everyone acts like it’s normal.
I'll add, kinda lastly, that during these final hours on Spoutible, CB and his stans turned all these "complaints" into a conspiracy where "chaos agents" had infiltrated his site to "ruin the platform." These stans were quick to harass *anyone* asking *anything.*

So now I'm seeing ads for AI-based apps that will "write your tweets for you."

It's going to write blog posts, podcasts, novels, write movies, write songs, hell, might even write our obituaries.

(this is where I hint to bring this up to your reps and not shut up bc its going to ruin everything)

So if you're queer/trans, no matter what you are told, I'd use this site with caution. Look up Christopher Bouzy and some of the shadiness around this guy: mostly because it looks like a lot of it is surrounded by soap opera level drama over BotSentinel, but there's more going on and this guy is no one I'd trust. Screenshots if you want them, but I've put in enough time over this waste of it.
Quite a few of us were "permanently banned" for "bullying and harassment" for asking these questions: why did he let a small group of unknown users decide policy (much of which EXCLUDES queer voices)? How safe are LGBTQ users (or *any* marginalized users) if the culture fostered there doesn't allow for dissenting opinions? For pointing out the CEO was deliberately *not* listening to our concerns, we got banned. No dialogue, just banned from the clubhouse.
Two weeks on Spoutible was definitely enough. It's not a "community" but a private club for puritanical blue Magas and a CEO who is so closed off from real engagement, he alienated new users in just under 24 hours by refusing to listen to the valid concerns of marginalized (queer/disabled) users (and some professional writers) over policies (who makes them?), TOS (messy, too strict to allow much) and my personal one, would he let famous terfs on the site he claims safe for LGBTQ? Guess.
if you understand that for a certain demographic of people, accountability is considered offensive, a lot of things start to make more sense.
Everything is giving me the heebie jeebies. Maybe time to sign out for a while.
