So after Labour have won and the Tories in opposition make leaving the European Convention on Human Rights a central plank of their platform, I trust we are going to sincerely discuss the ramifications of doing that, and properly air that discussion, rather than pretending it will be consequence free like we did with Brexit. Yes?
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if the tickets in your backlog have lots of inter dependencies, you don't have a backlog, you have a project plan.

The easiest way to figure out if someone is a tester or a programmer, might just be to ask about test strategies.

If their answer is about the testing pyramid, you're talking with a programmer. If their answer is about risks and/or quality attributes, you're talking with a tester.

Coming to the opinion that a pull request is the worst possible way to read code.

TIL that since Java 11 you have had the ability to execute Java programs as shell scripts:

An example of a Java program that can be executed as a shell script. This ability has existed since Java 11, although this script utilises some Java 17 features as well.

I take comfort from the thought that no matter how I screw up today, it's unlikely to be as bad as crashing a ship into a bridge and making it collapse
One thing I don't think we discuss enough about functional programming is the exciting possibilities that are unlocked when functions are first class objects for making our code completely incomprehensible.
Shout out to all of you whose builds suddenly failed today because you put leap year bugs in your code (test code, I hope, not production!) 🙌
