@rhinoceraptor It's Teamware nomenclature, which called it a "bringover" and a "putback." (And to be fair, also invented the concept.)

@bcantrill I am curious in you have any insight for the etymology of the phrase "put back" as a synonym for "have merged upstream".

I have noticed it being used in particular by people involved with Sun, Illumos, BK, Teamware, etc.
