The hype surrounding generative AI has meant it’s no longer a tool to experiment with during a lunchbreak – it’s now a technology that businesses are under pressure to adopt. The likes of ChatGPT have spawned new use cases that are upending entire industries. But whether organisations know it or not at this stage, it will also ultimately force them to consider how the infrastructure they use will hold up under the weight of such developments.

SunOS 4.1.4 says it can't possibly be the year 2023: "WARNING: preposterous time in filesystem -- CHECK AND RESET THE DATE!"

sorry SunOS, there's nothing i can do to fix 2023.

“The most comprehensive tracking of attempts to replicate a high-temperature superconductor claim can be found in a forum called SpaceBattles” is definitely a phrase that makes me feel like I'm living in the future.

@uninick If you think that's long, there's a 5 hour 14 minute episode of the Lex Fridman Podcast with John Carmack from a few months ago.

I had it on in the background but it was so interesting I ended up clearing my schedule and watching it for 5 hours straight.

So, about TWiG Episode 692.

Outstanding. 9.5/10

A return to those classic expert-led discussions that provoke careful reflection both during and well after the episode has ended.

@alex really brings his A game.

@leo @ant_pruitt and @jeffjarvis I feel strike the perfect balance of letting their guest deep-dive the topic at hand and providing colour.

Watch this episode. You won't regret it.

@Denverdigiman You're doing it absolutely right in my opinion. #panettone as a winter treat is a wonderful tradition.

I give them as informal gifts to family, friends and co-workers at this time of year.

Admittedly some ask me "what do I do with it?" but that's a whole other story... 🤣

@Denverdigiman The humble #panettone has a dark, dark secret.

Do you know what it is?

Well... the secret is you don't need to wait until this time of year to enjoy it. Everyday can be panettone day!!

I like to slice it like a loaf of bread, toast and smother with sea-salted butter. An insanely good way to start the day

@jw "Thinking, Fast and Slow" was definitely worth my time. It's a staple reading in behavioural #economics

The book distills Kahneman's research whilst also providing actionable insights into how we can at least be aware of the tricks our brains play on us.

Note that there have been some concerns raised about the underlying research during the so called "replication crisis" but I still recommend the book as a starting point.

Even though I am a TWiT host and even though I have a free membership in Club Twit, I just switched to a paid membership because I want to do my small part for a community that means so much to me. @leo
