And unfortunately, my heart is a whore.
I don't think that the Fediverse as a whole was quite ready for that take-over.
Given how there will be a sizable number of people who will be discovering us for the first time, I would have hoped that other federated services would be ready to present themselves as viable alternatives to other major social media sites.
And yet, one has to dig quite far to find a WriteFreely instance.
In short, I still think that the Fediverse as a whole still has a long way to go.
@mindy In the past this platform has certainly leaned left, yes. I believe that depends on the instance though.
An interesting note on this topic: IIRC, Gab was originally built on top of a mastodon instance, but the creators of Mastodon blocked it from federating with the rest of the fediverse and denounced the whole the whole thing (for the better, in my opinion).
