@decryption If your house has digital locks, perhaps you can check if the locks can work with the NFC keys. Digital locks can allow access during specific times of the day or specific days of the week, unlike traditional locks.
@decryption If you have an old NFC-capable phone, you can get the phone to run automations (Eg. Send a text to convey to someone that you are at home) when you tap the NFC key 🔑 against it.
@tagir_valeev It looks a lot like NetBeans. Back in the day, I liked NetBeans (over Eclipse); it may have been because I first got hooked from the included Swing editor and then NetBeans just seemed more familiar to work with than Eclipse.
@bhaktagrace I love that you are starting this, and what I also like is that you are building it with NeoCities (I am not affiliated with NeoCities; I just like using it).
@decryption I plan on adding a TP-Link Deco (for mesh networking) to my Christmas shopping list every year. The standards organizations keep introducing new WiFi standards, and Decos work across generations.
@Quinnypig Out here, it means “Search for what your Bluetooth headset is connected to so you can turn it off and get the headset to pair with your computer for attending a Zoom meeting”
@decryption @redezem They have their carbon offset with all of that grass and they just made sure their printers don’t just sit in a storage closet.
@claras_universe I like how Compass offers the GUI to work with the data, but also offers the text-based Mongo Shell (click the “MongoSH” in the bottom left of the window).
@donncha Old telephone booths in Dubai had been repurposed into WiFi hotspots (because the telecom provider that setup the phone booths also offered subscriptions to use their WiFi hotspots).
@lmorchard I agree, from the perspective that being able to plug a computer or phone into an electronic device makes it more future-proof than “integrating a computer” into it. Cars have the Android versions that they shipped with and both the hardware and software is outdated long before the car gets scrapped for parts. Being able to plug in a phone and have screen mirroring lets us swap out the phone for a newer one the following year.
