I'm a musician and bedroom producer, and I like Metal as Hell. I'm also Linux enthusiast and no! JACK doesn't suck! Some time ago, I've started to learn how to write GTK apps, because combining bash scripts with Zenity have some limitation when it comes to GUI and I like to improve my junk :)

Hi folks, I have something for ya!

What I've prepared for today is:
- GtkFrames are replaced with borders, so it looks like regular GTK App
- added border on top
- window content resize with window (but I forgot to record)
- Sync button name is replaced with Restore
- when Backup/Restore process is cancelled, app will remember it and show info label with Resume button after start
- the info label will be shown and replace Backup and Restore buttons when rsync process is canceled
- when one or more options in config file will be removed by accident, they will be recreated on start, this will be helpful for new options for future like remembering window size

For someone who have some knowledge about programming it can sound painful, weird or even stupid. I've started with zero knowledge, even how desktop environment work, and I was intrigued about shell scripts plus all this stuff about studio distros and tweaking system for recording was irritating me as hell. So I cut my way through with bash because it was relatively easy to learn 🙂

Hi, it's my first toot on LinuxRocks, I didn't post here anything yet because I thought will be better to show something I'm working on instead of generic introduction.

I wrote few apps in Bash with Zenity GUI, and this is my first attempt in GTK I'm currently working on.

Some of them are related to audio recording, and some are just for fun to make XFCE more comfortable, done in the meanwhile. You can find more info about in Manjaro forum thread:

Ladies, gentlemen, I am happy to announce that I finally finished 😁 Previously I was working on Manjaro spin with custom tools, but I gave up because will be better for tools like RecBox Workflow not to be limited to one desktop environment, plus there is no point to work on separate spin when you can change system from daily machine into studio box with few clicks. All stuff use Zenity widgets for GUI, so it’s a bit annoying and you can forget about UX, however I already start work...
