The AI scare is crazy. I understand and agree that there are legit uses of LLMs especially in the context of searching and summarizing which it does an excellent job of. But outside of those domains it isn’t that great. Especially for coding tasks. It creates spaghetti code that’s hard to troubleshoot. SWE is not just about writing code it’s about writing MAINTAINABLE code. You can one shot a feature and it sort of works but inevitably when the user demands change that’s a world of pain for you.

Assassins Creed Shadows on the Switch 2 runs so well!! I really like the franchise as well. AC gives you a tried and tested game experience.

It’s like going to get McDonalds. No matter where you are in the world you have a certain expectation of the food and it always hits those expectations.

It should be a very straightforward decision.

Spend 60 hours playing (finishing) a game or 60 hours reinforcing the fundamentals of comp sci.

The payoff is apparent.

Yet I gravitate towards the game.

What the fuck is wrong with me

Pretty soon I will have to factor in my two growing daughters into this upgrade cycle.
And when my dad says he needs a new phone it means my wife usually buys a new one and passes her 4 year old phone to my dad who then somehow finds someone who wants his 9+ year phone to use.
When my mother says she needs a new phone it means I need a new phone and I pass down my 2 year old phone down to her and she passes her 5 year old phone to some family relative in rural Nepal and that family member passes on their 9+ year old phone to the next person.

I’m personally a fan of CDD — Complaint Driven Development.

Bitch and moan about the library or software you’re using for free until you actually master it because you run out of complaints.

Also, despite getting my undergrad from Minnesota: I fucking hate snow!
My life has completely turned around from a carefree 20s and 30s to a paranoia filled 40s for my health and for the health of my children

So I have the Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5 and a healthy Steam backlog.

Now where do I find the bloody time? Lol
