Retired, sometimes hiker, sometimes photographer, sometimes volunteer income tax preparer and sometimes just a slug - no offense intended to any slugs here.

One more a video panning the crowd. I discovered that it’s hard to take pictures and hold a sign.

Great turn out in San Rafael, CA. City Plaza packed and 2 blocks of 4th St filled with people. The best part was right at the start when the cars became their own protest parade. Many of the cars had several men or entire families waving Mexican flags and holding up signs. San Rafael is home to a large Hispanic community, many undocumented, so I loved that they found a safe way to participate.

I went to a local art supply store today to get poster making stuff. I am completely out of my comfort zone with this, but the staff was so helpful. She told me they have had a steady stream of requests for foamboard over the past few months, but this week it's crazy and she thinks it feels different. Lots of energy, but no joy.
I've found a few folks from the Asheville area here in the Fediverse and their pictures brought back memories of my years there - 2009-2014. I've spent hours in the past few days wandering through my digital photo archives. I've been down a lot of rabbit holes and taken more than a few side trips, but I realized at some point that I needed the escape. Here's a few of the Arboretum. These were taken in 2009 and 2010.
If we ever find a cure for extroverts what a wonderful world we could live in.

Lots of wonderful, creative signs at the protest. My favorite…
Okay, I know I have been close to invisible but I know when it’s time to protest. The scene at the San Rafael Civic Center.

Congratulations to Bill Nye for being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Thank you for joining us over the years at many marches and rallies to stand up for science. More than ever, scientists need to keep speaking up for truth and organizing for justice. Onward!
