I'm one of the writers at quackers.blog. People who hawk security nonsense deserve mockery and scorn.

If they do it in secret, are they crypto-cryptominer-minors?

NIST published ECDSA in 2000, back before all the world was x86-64 or ARM gobs of RAM for lookup tables. Back when arithmetic using anything more than 32 bits was still a significant pain in the ass, and lots of cryptographers were happy to proceed with affine coordinates because all that weird elliptic curve stuff was hard enough without other coordinate representations.

Using a Mersenne prime allowed for fast, constant-time remaindering, optimizable multiplication, and fast calculation of multiplicative inverses.

The selection was a result of the Mersenne thing, but back then, you didn't pick a Mersenne prime for the lulz; you picked it for what looked like a genuine advantage.

My vagina is made from my former penis. So if I get fucked with an uncircumcised dick, it's technically a form of docking.

It's worse than just post-quantum. As the AI cult spreads, more and more people think that the last episode of "Silicon Valley" is a documentary.

The number of AI grifters getting into cryptography-- and vice-versa-- means we'll have a never-ending supply of hacks and dipshits to mock and call out. We just need to know where they are.
