My unsolicited take on the new overcast now playing screen.
I’ve built this directly using SwiftUI because I really miss using it.
Things I’ve done:
- larger border radius for the sheet so that it doesn’t clash with the artwork anymore
- used different icons without circle
- hierarchical variants for the go back and forward icons and larger play/pause button
- added sleep timer and star buttons to the bottom row
- generally made the spacing more homogeneous
WatchOS 10 still feels quite fragile and weird, but all the SwiftUI enhancements are so good. The whole app is working very well on the watch, which is just super cool. #swiftui #BuildInPublic
Spent a few hours yesterday and today to dig into AppIntents. After a little bit of refactoring, I can now log protein using Siri or Shortcuts or ask for my intake.
I used this rainy afternoon to adapt my app to the new watchOS 10 patterns and I’m quite happy with it already.
Nice side effect of using a list on the watch: it snaps in when scrolling. Just need to make sure it works on little baby watches as well.
Now that’s a bit better. Took it back and used a normal List with Sections. Also changed the background material to make it a bit quieter.
I finally managed to replace the custom calculator keypad in my log screen with a regular keyboard. It always felt a bit weird having the keypad and the text keyboard from the title at the same time.
I’ve been working on my little protein intake tracker app and I’m very happy with the progress. I’ve got the an onboarding flow now as well, which means it might be ready soon for a TestFlight. Any one interested? #swiftui #buildinpublic
So I took this as my first app idea, and I’ve been using it for a good month now already. I’m far from done, but I’m very happy with the progress so far. As a heavy Apple Watch user, it was clear from the beginning that I wanted to build a multi platform app, including watch complications, widgets and iCloud sync.

Caught these wagtails outside my office window this morning.
