Misha is modeling my first ever knitted bow tie for #caturday
I can’t believe that worked. But it did, so now I’m going to enter the phase where I knit dozens of useless practice squares of varying sizes before I try to take on patterns

Things my boyfriend just told me about the dollar general he's been supervising/working the night shift at for the past 3 months:

-they do not have any fire alarms in the building

-there is an app that comes up on their handheld inventory scanners that asks them to do things like check the freezer temperatures and make sure the fire extinguishers and fire exits are unblocked but there is no way to denote an issue, your only option to proceed with your job on that device is to press "yes"

-the heater to the store is broken so they have to close mid-day this entire week

-he works evenings so he either has to not work (unpaid) or be on call each day to scoot his schedule up to afternoons until they get the repair contractor to come back (he has been calling off)

-the store manager asked if he would bring in his personal kerosene heater from his house to the store

-the store with a ton of clutter and no fire alarms and blocked off fire exits/extinguishers

-??????????????

That's just his particular store, but lest you forget DG is an evil company for 1) putting a ton of rural groceries out of business and essentially replacing them with convenience stores, 2) labor violations n' such, 3) extremely misleading prices that end up being like 30% more expensive per unit than a regular grocery store

he said in the time he's been there they've changed the size of the dog food bags to be smaller for the same price *more than once*. He's been there 3 months, so it's not even on a quarterly scale.

Other fun things: having multiple types of one item but instead of keeping them together for easy price comparison, spreading them out throughout the store so that you're essentially hiding the ones at the best price point in unexpected places. The example was the best deal on lint rollers was actually hidden in a weird place in the laundry supply section, whereas several expensive products were in displays up front. It's down to such a science apparently that they bring in outside contractors to do the store product sets and only let the staff restock things in existing spaces.

Have you hated a corporation today? Tis the season. :)

What’s the worst movie you have ever seen?
One thing I think is nice is that you don’t have to make art. You can just draw a little guy in 5 minutes. And if you post it online, it doesn’t even need to earn it because it is inherently a better use of space than whatever hate speech the other guy is posting with a smug and misplaced sense of righteousness. No contest.

Some Mastodon tips I've learned:

- You need a fit, young hunting party
- They are not easy to bring down, so make sure your spears have extremely sharp tips
- Ensure you have a supply line and pack animals available to transport the meat and pelt back to the cave

The questionable early 2020 yeast I had in my kitchen cabinet is apparently still kicking, I’ll take that as a win. Not the best looking loaf of bread I’ve ever made but it’s definitely better than having to roll the dough out into crackers at 8am
I have a second tortie cat, Opal, and she is very pretty and also an absolute menace #caturday
For #caturday here is the picture of the aforementioned barfy cat. Her name is misha
Ok yes if you have iOS Metatext is a lot easier to work with than the Mastodon mobile app. And I appreciate that you can make the icon 🌈 for no reason
