Alright, y'all. Dialogs is back. My first interview back is with Lacey Kobriger, a native mobile designer with whom I worked at Atlassian. Lacey is amazing and her experiences to becoming a NATIVE mobile designer make me happy to be a mobile developer. I'm producing extended versions w/ transcript of Dialogs for @androidfaithful paid supportlers: https://youtu.be/_gWrRM-A5a4
There will always be a free YT version, now with English and Spanish subtitles.
(Looks like this is going to be a daily thing for a while).
Alright, I'm SUPER biased because I did scheduling research for a bit in uni and that is why I asked @geoffreydesmet to join me for KotlinConfersations. And I had an amazing time diving back into what scheduling is as a class of NP-Hard problems and what Geoffrey's work on Timefold does to solve this class of problems in the real world.
The second interview from KotlinConferences 2024 is out! I spoke to Edwin Jakobs about his work on OPENRNDR, an open-source framework for creative coding written in Kotlin. I was incredibly inspired by Edwin's passion for creative coding and how OPENRNDR tries to enable exploration and creativity.
Working on some things…
Soon.
I still have bouts of crippling insecurity about who I am as an engineer and person. They happen much less frequently these days; been trying to do the work.
To counter this, when I'm having a good day and something difficult comes together, I will shout at my husband wherever he is in the house… "YOUR WIFE IS A FUCKING SMART BITCH."
To his credit and my delight, he often responds with something like "Why are you shouting things that I already know?!?"
Today is a shout-y day. ❤️
Been having a great time deep-diving into Compose transitions and that includes 70% of the time bashing my head into the keyboard when I do things that don't work but that last 30% where the light bulbs go on and get some complex requirements and logic to work is amazing (while trying to respect proper state hoisting, reading, management).
Hopefully, I'm not doing things that would make the Compose team cringe but I have a deep-dive tour/tutorial/somethin' percolating.
