I'm really frustrated and disappointed with the way some people - including people who should absolutely know better - have acted about the Furaffinity situation over the past couple of days, not gonna lie.

I want to preface this by saying that if you've lost faith in FA after everything, that is perfectly reasonable. I'm not shaming anyone for wanting to leave, or for not giving them a second chance, or for not being hopeful. Those are completely rational responses to all of this.

What upsets me is the way the goalposts keep moving. "We won't trust FA unless Luffy's gone." Luffy's gone. "We won't trust FA unless they apologize." They apologized (without reservation, recognizing a lot of the specific harms, and committing to doing better - it was not a "nonpology," and if you read it like one, you really need to get your head on straight). "We won't trust FA unless they unban people." They've unbanned people. "We won't trust FA unless ..." and the goalposts keep moving. People are so far getting basically everything they've been asking for and, yeah, maybe it's not enough, but it's astonishing to me that after seeing the way things have been moving, there are still so many people who don't think FA's even listening. They definitely are.

They can't fix everything all at once. Sorry, they can't. That's not a free pass for FA; it's the simple truth. There is a lot of shit - even stuff that seems like it should be "easy" to fix - that is going to take time. It's pretty clear (given the mass resignation of the staff) that there's a lot of stuff within the culture of FA's staff that had a ton of problems. That did not develop overnight, nor will it be fixed overnight. The fact that they are now even more short-staffed means that there are fewer people to handle even the "simple" things (like unbanning the people who were unfairly banned, or removing strikes, or whatever). If you're upset about that, apply to be staff. Mod applications are open. Yes, there's an NDA. You're having to verify identities and deal with personal information; maybe that's not a "good reason" in your judgment for an NDA, but there it is. I understand why people are suspicious of NDAs (especially in FA's case where there's been such a lack of transparency), but the concept of it is not completely absurd here.

Point is, if you're not going to be optimistic or hopeful or helpful, that's fine. That's your choice. It's a valid choice. But if you are going to choose that, stay out of the way of the people who do believe things can be better. I said even before - and it's even more true now since the latest announcement - some of y'all really do just feel like you're demanding blood for the blood gods now, and it's very disappointing to see.
