Imagine you’re sitting in a busy restaurant. You get your favorite dish. As you prepare to dig in, a man sits down across from you, and starts asking you questions, which you politely answer at first.

His questions are relentless, and your food is getting cold. The questions become more personal, statements get made to which you find offensive, and then start attacking you.

There are open seats at most of the tables around you, but you don’t get up because that would be rude. You look around and consider moving to a new table, but like an entitled Karen, the man rudely snaps his fingers at you, like he’s trying to get the attention of the waitress. He’s determined to keep you engaged and listening and to his toxic rhetoric.

You notice that other diners in the room are having intimate conversations; sharing photos, discussing new technology, world events… laughing and enjoying themselves.

That schmuck sitting across from you is Meta, X, Truth Social, etc… and the other tables are the open internet.

Throw your drink in the man’s face, grab your wallet and plate, and move to the Fediverse and the open internet.
