I’m interested in technology that makes life easier and is esthetically pleasing. I’m a LaunchBar nerd. Podcasts are my favorite medium to learn new things. I love Jesus, my family, nature, bass, sourdough bread, mushrooms, basketball…

I try to have a positive impact in my local community with http://drustvosteza.si

I think we all know that SF Symbols just don't work well on non-retina displays... they're always so blurry, not pixel-aligned, and sometimes appear squished.

A standard screenshot on 1x and the same but zoomed. It would be nice if you could provide 1x pngs as fallbacks at least in order to avoid this problem on 1x displays.

We're now seeing more little icons in #macOSTahoe

Like any fussy (nearly) lifetime Mac user, I have some quibbles with "Liquid Glass", but I think Apple has pulled off a remarkably successful unification. As a user, I'll get used to it (already on my way), and as an investor, I think I'll make bank on it.

Apple love to preach "the UI gets out of the way of your content" with each new redesign, but how true is that in practice? Let's compare the total height of the Safari UI with a toolbar, favourites bar and tab bar visible, across the three latest Mac OS design languages – Yosemite, Big Sur and now Tahoe. I've added a red line for emphasis.

It sure looks to me like the UI is eating more into my content with each redesign.

For kicks, I ran the current Finder icon through Apple’s new Icon Composer app, and I think it looks pretty good with Liquid Glass, even in the clear and tinted modes.

Hell yeah, macOS Tahoe adds an option to block apps from putting items in the menu bar (System Settings > Menu Bar).Goodbye forever, Creative Cloud!
Meet Liquid Glass

Every year there are some WWDC videos worth watching, even if you aren’t a developer. This year, Meet Liquid Glass should be required viewing for anyone who cares about Apple’s operating systems. This video shows in great detail how Apple has considered the interaction and interface of Liquid

Something cool about _the new way_, is Apple are kind enough to include their SVGs in asset catalogs. You can reassemble icons in Icon Composer and re-colour them. *fixed*.
dear lord…

@simonbs for anyone who wants to implement NSDockTilePlugIn for their Mac apps to continue having freeform icons, I have a GitHub project with a whole tutorial on setting one up. It only works with apps outside of the Mac App Store though as Apple does not allow NSDockTilePlugIn.
